Auto-Immune Diagnosis

Diagnosing auto-immune disorders is very challenging as many of the symptoms experienced by patients are not very specific and may be similar to a number of other health conditions or diseases. The problem becomes more complex as different types of auto-immune disorders also have many symptoms in common. Thus it is important for a patient to keep a thorough record of their family history and all symptoms that they experience before they go to their physician.

In order to diagnose auto immune disorders, your physician will do a complete physical examination and look for specific signs of auto immune disease. Certain tests done to aid the diagnosis can include complete blood cell count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, autoantibody tests, anti-nuclear antibody test and C-reactive protein test.
